National Superstock 1000: Josh Elliott leaves Morello Kawasaki

Josh Elliott and reigning National Superstock 1000 championship winning team Morello Racing Kawasaki have parted company, having lasted just three rounds together. It is understood that both parties agreed to leave on mutual terms, having struggled to find a solution to their struggles after the first three rounds of the season.

The partnership got off to a good start with a podium at Donington Park but since then, they’ve struggled to break into the top ten together. Sam Clarke on the other side of the team has been chipping away and is making steps forward with the bike, beating Josh at Brands Hatch Indy.

Talking exclusively to Motorsport Radio during our live broadcast of The Superbike Show, team owner Steve Buckenham said, “Bottom line is that we couldn’t give Josh Elliott the bike that he wanted to ride to win the championship. As a team, we have turned the bike inside out and up and down, but Josh just didn’t get settled on the bike.

“The test at Snetterton was very positive but unfortunately, we had a gearbox go and we didn’t have time to change anything, which messed up Josh’s last run. I think he felt like we had let him down as a team,” said Buckenham, who owns double National Superstock 1000 champions Morello Racing.

Morello Racing posted on social media that they wish Josh all the best for the future. Speculation is rife about where the 2015 National Superstock 1000 champ may go, with limited room available on the grid. A seat has become available at the all-new OMG Racing Suzuki UK in the Stock 1000 class, following Ben Luxton’s departure.
