MotoGP: Marc Marquez Signs 4 more Years with Repsol Honda

Reigning MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez has signed an elusive 4 year deal with his current employer Honda, taking him up to 12 seasons with the factory team since joining the in 2013. 4 year deals have been a rarity in modern MotoGP with even the longest deals usually only lasting 2 to 3 years.

In their time together Marc Marquez and Repsol Honda have enjoyed a dominant run winning the championship in Marc’s rookie season in 2013, and then going on to win the first 10 races of 2014 clinching the world title once again.

2015 remarkably has been the only year since joining the MotoGP class that he has been defeated, when Jorge Lorenzo best Valentino Rossi to the title. Marc Marquez was still involved in drama tangling with Valentino Rossi in Argentina and of course the infamous Sepang Clash.

2016 was where Marc Marquez took the first of his current run championships in a season where we saw 9 different winners throughout the season. 2017 Marquez had a down to the wire battle with Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso, where the famous one to one battles started.

2018 and 2019 is where Marc Marquez stepped up his game, dominating most of the season in both campaigns, and seemingly having far less famous practice accidents than in previous years.

Marc Marquez took to social media to say;

“I’m very happy to announce my renewal with Honda HRC for the next 4 years and continue with this great family! We’ll continue to giving our best to achieve our goals”

One thing is for certain 4 more years with Honda and Marquez is an ominous sign for the rest of the MotoGP teams and riders. On his current form he could potentially win an Angel Nieto equalling 13 world championships by the end of 2024.
