WSBK: Autodrom Most Added to 2021 Calendar for Czech Round Return

The Czech Round is set for a return to the WorldSBK calendar this season and for the first time ever, the event will be held at the Autodrom Most.

Dorna, the FIM and circuit officials reached a five-year agreement that will see WorldSBK race in the Czech Republic until 2025.

The Autodrom Most will make its debut in the sixth round of the 2021 campaign from the 6th to the 8th of August.

Opened in 1982, the venue was the first permanent motor racing complex in what was then known as Czechoslovakia and has since hosted a number of events including national motorcycle championships.

With an almost one kilometre long start/finish straight and long sweeping as likewise tight corners, the Autodrom Most promises exciting race action.

Josef Zajicek, the circuit’s Chief Executive Officer, referred to the deal as a “milestone” and a “unique event” in the Autodrom’s history. He admitted that the organisers are expecting demanding technical and organisational requirements but assured they are happy to take up the challenge.

“Our objective is to open our complex to the general public, which is why we have to offer the best-quality events possible to our racing fans. And the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship indisputably belongs to such events. We will make sure that the riders, teams, partners, sponsors as well as spectators may be absolutely satisfied with us and look forward to the next edition of this fantastic display of powerful machines and brave riders.”

WorldSBK’s Executive Director Gregorio Lavilla said he is “thrilled” about the agreement and that he expects “exciting events” at the Autodrom Most.

“Today’s announcement that WorldSBK is set to return to the Czech Republic for the first time since 2018 reflects the continuing popularity of the Championship among the Czech fans. With Czech teams and riders within the paddock, this is a great opportunity to showcase the Czech Republic on a world stage.“

Further, it was announced today that there will be no 2021 edition oft he Australian Round due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and resulting regulations.

The Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit is however scheduled to host the 2022 season opener and is safe on the WorldSBK calendar until 2027.

The 2021 WorldSBK campaign is set to get underway in less than a month at MotorLand Aragón.
