
WorldSSP: Nicolo Bulega Storms to pole position at Donington
Nicolo Bulega is on pole position for the World Supersport race at Donington Park.
The championship leader, Nicolo Bulega (Aruba.it Racing WorldSSP Team) is on pole position at Donington Park, continuing his run of success. Bulega broke the lap record with a lap time of 1’29.323 onboard his Ducati Panigale V2.
Yari Montella (Barni Spark Racing Team) qualified in second position, 0.209 behind the fellow Ducati rider. Stefano Manzi (Ten Kate Racing Yamaha) was the first Yamaha in third place, after topping practice.
Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) ended the session in an impressive fourth position on the Kawasaki ZX-6R. Adrian Huertas (MTM Kawasaki) continued his form this weekend, rounding out the top 5.
Niki Tuuli (Dynavolt Triumph) ended the qualifying as the top Triumph rider in sixth position. Tuuli had a coming together with Eugene McManus (Completely Motorbikes Triumph) in practice.
Glenn Van Straalen (EAB Racing Team) ended his qualifying session in seventh place, onboard the Yamaha R6. He was ahead of Federico Caricasulo (Althea Racing Team) who will start both races from eighth. The first MV Agusta will start the races from ninth, with Marcel Schroetter (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) onboard.
Tom Booth-Amos (Motozoo ME AIR Racing) had a tough home qualifying session and ended the session in 13th. Booth-Amos was at the top of the session early on but would suffer a crash at the Fogarty Esses. The Kawasaki rider is also recovering from an earlier crash at Knockhill during the British Supersport race.
Tarran Mackenzie (PETRONAS MIE Racing Honda team) had a good qualifying session and was the top Honda. His teammate, Adam Norrodin was down in 30th position after only setting a handful of laps.
John McPhee (Vince64 by Puccetti Racing ) will start the races this weekend from the last grid spot. McPhee suffered a crash at Redgate at the start of the session on his first flying lap. This did not allow the Scotsman to set a fast lap time during the session onboard the Kawasaki.
Jack Kennedy (Evan Bros. WorldSSP Yamaha Team) received a late call-up to ride this weekend. Kennedy ended the session in 27th position as he continues to understand the World Supersport machine.
Oli Bayliss (D34G Racing) also suffered a crash in qualifying and highsided exiting the final corner. Bayliss was holding his right shoulder when walking away from the crash and was taken to the medical centre.
