WorldSSP: John McPhee parts ways with Vince64

John McPhee and the Vince64 team will split with immediate effect.

John McPhee has split with his current WorldSSP team, Vince64 ahead of the 10^th round of WorldSSP. McPhee joined the team at the start of 2023, riding their Kawasaki ZX-6R which was supported by Puccetti.

The Vince64 Racing Team and McPhee got off to a great start in 2023, claiming a podium in their first race. He claimed third place at Phillip Island, with only Glenn Van Straalen and Can Oncu finishing ahead.

The Scotsman is currently 16^th position in the WorldSSP standings, behind fellow Kawasaki rider Tom Booth-Amos. McPhee suffered from nine consecutive races where they scored no points in the Championship.

The agreement was mutual between both parties with the team adding: “This is not goodbye”.

The Vince64 team has spent multiple seasons in the Italian CIV Championship with great results. Puccetti Racing would support the team in 2023, providing them with championship-winning experience.

In Moto3, it would take four years to claim his first win, at the 2016 Czech Republic Grand Prix onboard a Peugeot. He would finish his time in the championship, with four race wins and 16 podiums.

2022 was McPhee’s final year in Moto3, due to the age limit in the class being 28 years old. He rode for the Sterilgarda Husqvarna Max team and would gift them with a final race win in Malaysia.

It is not known if John McPhee will finish the 2023 WorldSSP Championship with another team.

McPhee said: “To get a podium at our first World Supersport race as a new team and project was something special, we had some great moments and some difficult ones, it’s a shame, but for reasons beyond our control we have decided by mutual agreement to part ways with immediate effect.

“Thanks to Vincenzo and all the guys at Vince64 for everything! Grazie ragazzi.”

Vincenzo Scandizzo added: “I am truly sorry for this painful decision, but he will always be a dear friend and I will always maintain relations with him.”
