WorldSSP: Harry Truelove splits with PTR Triumph

Harry Truelove will split with the PTR Triumph Racing team.

Harry Truelove and the PTR Triumph team have mutually decided to part ways with immediate effect. Truelove will not return after the summer break with disappointing results throughout the season.

Harry Truelove will split with the PTR Triumph after eight rounds of the 2023 World Supersport Championship. The British rider has also suffered from injury throughout the season, causing Truelove to miss the last round at Autodrom Most.

This year was Truelove’s first season in the World Supersport class after previously wildcarding in the Championship. The 26-year-old previously raced in the British Supersport class, riding for the Appleyard team.

Truelove is 29^th in the standings and is the top Triumph in the World Supersport Championship. His best result came in the opening round, with an 11th-place finish in mixed conditions. Since the opening round, Truelove has not scared another point finish.

The PTR Triumph team is in fifth position in the team standings with riders Harry Truelove and Niki Tuuli. So far this season, Tuuli has had far better results, with a third place at Mandalika and is currently sixth in the Championship.

Harry Truelove said: “It’s been a tricky year obviously, adapting to the Triumph hasn’t gone as we would have liked.  The team and I have tried as much as we can to get a good feeling, however, this has not come.  For this reason, we have decided to part ways.  I wish the team the best of luck for the remaining rounds, and I’d like to thank them for the opportunity.”

PTR Triumph Team Manager, Simon Buckmaster added: “We always want to succeed with every rider that rides for us, but after so many years of riding an inline four-cylinder machine it was difficult for Harry to adapt to our bike, so we have mutually decided to go our separate ways.

“It’s such a shame we couldn’t make it work but it’s in everybody’s best interests not to keep going.  After seven rounds together, track days and testing with the team, we’ve just not been able to find that solution for Harry and for us as a team to achieve what we’d hoped to achieve together.

“We wish Harry all the best for whatever he does racing-wise in the future and we want to thank him for all his efforts.”
