Motorsport Awards Honour Your 2019 Favourites

The 2019 Motorsport Awards took place on the 15th December for the esteemed event’s second year of operation. The Awards celebrates the best in motorsport from the competitors, teams, engineering and media.

Big winners of the day were BriSCA F1’s Tom Harris and British Supersport’s Brad Jones, who secured the Driver and Rider of the Year prize respectively. In total, over 22,000 votes were cast, yet many categories saw winners decided by a narrow handful.

Nominations opened on the 7th October and remained so until the 31st October. The top five or ten nominations (depending on category) were put forward to a public vote which opened on the 4th November on the Motorsport Awards website, closing for the final time on Monday 9th December at 6pm. Driver of the Year – Tom Harris (BriSCA F1)

For Harris, he continues the clean sweep of Stock Car winners as he caps off a successful season winning the BriSCA F1 World Championship, the second of his career, now making a name for himself on the American scene.

Rider of the Year – Brad Jones (British Supersport)

It’s been a coming of age year for Jones who finished runner-up in the British Supersport Championship this year, picking up silverware in all but one of the races. A Donington debut in the World Supersport championship saw him record a top ten finish as he makes an impact on the British stage.

Star of the Future (Bikes) – Brent Harran (Superstock 600)

Young Driver of the Year (16 or under) – Ben Kasperczak (Ginetta Juniors)

Young Rider of the Year (16 or under) – Storm Stacey (Superstock 600)

Best Race of the Year – BTCC – Brands Hatch Final Race 3

Moment of the Year – Mantas Sliogeris – Poland (Gymkhana GRID World Championships)

Marshal of the Year – Margaret Sharratt

Best Championship – BTCC

Best Race Car – WSR BMW 330i M Sport
