MotoGP: Iannone ‘expected more’ from Brno

Andrea Iannone finished 10th in the Czech Grand Prix on Sunday but stated that he expected more from the event, after showing some promising pace in the free practice session. The Suzuki rider – who leaves the Japanese manufacture for Aprilia at the end of 2018 – is now without a podium since Jerez and is languishing down in 9th in the championship.

“For sure I expected more from this race, but in any case I tried my best. I pushed from the beginning at 100% and I remained pushing until the end of the race, so it’s difficult for us. I hope we’ll have a bit more potential in the next races and we’ll remain a bit closer from the second half of the race until the end.

“This is the most important thing to focus on because we’re losing out in the second part of the races and struggle on the acceleration points with spinning. We have good potential but not in every area yet, tomorrow we’ll work on some things during the test.”

The Italian heads back to Instagram for a few days now before taking to the Red Bull Ring in Austrian for the 11th round of the championship. The 28-year-old was the first winner of the Austrian GP since it returned to the MotoGP calendar in 2016, beating then-teammate Andrea Dovizioso to give Ducati their first win 6 seasons. He was 11th for Suzuki last season at the circuit, over 20 seconds from the win.
