MotoE: Jordi Torres confirmed for MotoE title attack

World Superbike rider Jordi Torres has confirmed that he will be competing in the 2020 MotoE World Cup for the Pons HP40 team, as well as the World Superbike Championship for the Pedercini Kawasaki team.

Replacing Sete Gibernau in the Join Contract Pons 40, former Moto2 rider Jordi Torres will face his first MotoE season in 2020.

Sito Pons’ Join Contract Pons 40 team will face their second season in the championship after finishing the inaugural season 11th in the overall standings with multiple MotoGP race winner Sete Gibernau.

The best result for the double MotoGP Championship runner up came at Austria with a 6th place finish.

With a successful season under their belt, Sito Pons will be hoping Jordi Torres can steer his Electric team to more success.

Speaking to MotoGP.com, the Moto2 race winner commented:

As a rider, he has successfully rode the Moto2™ World Championship and the WorldSBK™, being able to win in both categories, and that gives him a degree of maturity, experience and speed needed to try to fight to be MotoE™ World Champion.”

The 2020 MotoE World Championship kicks off in May at the Circuit de Jerez – Angel Nieto.
