Moto3: Noah Dettwiler to wildcard in Austria

Noah Dettwiler to wildcard at Austria and become the first Swiss back in Grand Prix racing.

Noah Detwiler will race in Austria for the Cuna de Campeones team, who he currently races for in the FIM JuniorGP. He will become the first Swiss Grand Prix rider since Tom Luthi – who retired at the end of 2021.

The 18-year-old is a two-time Supermoto Swiss Champion and has three runner-up titles. Detwiler has previously raced at the Red Bull Ring, after previously racing in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. In his last season in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, Noah Dettwiler finished 17^th in the standings.

Dettwiler has worked closely with the 2005 125cc World Champion and Swiss rider, Thomas Luthi. Luthi is now the 18-year-old manager, who helped the Swiss plan this wildcard In Moto3. 

The Swiss rider, Dettwiler is currently 19^th in the FIM JuniorGP standings with 146 points to his name. His best finish this season came at Valencia, with a 10th-place finish onboard the Cuna De Campeones KTM. Dettwiler’s teammate for this season is Geoffrey Emmanuel, who is in his rookie season in JuniorGP.

Before racing in JuniorGP, Dettwiler spent three seasons in the European Talent Cup, racing for multiple teams. His best season came in the 2020 season when the Swiss raced for the Real Avintia MTA Junior Team. He finished 23^rd in the standings, with a best result of 12^th.

“The fact that I can now start in the Moto3 World Championship is not only an incredible reward for me, but also confirmation that we have made some right decisions with our career decisions.

“The Red Bull Ring also suits me quite well, I know the track from the Red Bull Rookies Cup. That’s why I don’t have to get to know the layout at first and I can concentrate completely on the team, the bike and the course of the race weekend.
