Moto2: Fenati breaks through in Le Mans

Romano Fenati proved that Moto3 riders can transition to Moto2, even if it does take a bit of time. The Italian took his first points in the Moto2 class, with a 7th place finish, coming through from 12th on the grid to achieve a great top 10 result.

Fenati was the second Italian home too, with Pecco Bagnaia clearing off for the win, whilst Baldassarri and Pasini both fell out of front-running positions. Fenati was ahead of the likes of Brad Binder, Hector Barbera and Sam Lowes, highlighting that ahead of his home round, he is starting to get the right feeling with the Moto2 bike.

“It was a hard race but also the best from the beginning of the championship. From Jerez we did a big step ahead and we can stay in the front positions not only in the free practices. We are missing a little bit the experience of the race kilometres, but we’ll arrive,” he said.

“Finally my first points in the world championship, so I am happy of those steps and now we are going to Mugello, an amazing track and where we can do well, once again,” he concluded. Fenati now heads to Mugello, a huge event for him, with it being his home race.
