IGTC: Orange1 FFF Racing Heads Lamborghini’s 2021 Title Challenge

Orange1 FFF Racing, the 2019 Blancpain GT Series champions, will spearhead Lamborghini’s Intercontinental GT Challenge 2021 campaign after it was announced that Andrea Caldarelli, Marco Mapelli and Mirko Bortolloti will join forces in its #63 Huracan GT3 for the season.

The Chinese team, owned by Mr Fu Songyang and launched in 2014 in partnership with Andrea Caldarelli’s ACM, will represent the fourth manufacturer to have a presence on the Intercontinental GT Challenge grid.

Fu Songyang is delighted that, after a frustrating year in 2020 when the team was unable to participate in all the rounds of the world’s greatest global GT3 championship, the team is able to commit to a full season.

“After the complicated winter months, I am happy to be able to deliver some good news,” said Fu Songyang “It is an honour and a privilege for us to get back to race for Lamborghini Squadra Corsa in the Intercontinental GT Challenge, which undoubtedly was an interrupted story last year.

“The partnership with ORANGE1 and Armando (Donazzan, President of Orange1) is really important to us, especially as it confirms the trust in a great, high-value international brand, while the IGTC platform represents the best way for us to put ourselves to the test again. I think we have the best possible line-up of drivers, in terms of speed, reliability and achievements, a condition that undoubtedly puts us among the top contenders for the title.”

The Sant’ Agata Bolognese marque has already tasted victory this season with a double 1 – 2 finish at the opening weekend of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS at Sonoma Raceway on March 6 – 7.

The 2021 Intercontinental GT Challenge Powered by Pirelli gets underway with the Total 24 Hours of Spa on July 29 – August 1.
