IGTC: Bentley Announces Drivers for 2020 Campaign

Bentley Team M-Sport has announced its driver roster for the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge. The Crewe-based manufacturer, with M-Sport based in Cockermouth, will enter two Bentley Continental GT3s for the five-round global championship which gets underway in February with the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour.

In the first of the two entries, Maxime Soulet will be joined Jules Gounon and Jordan Pepper, both established factory drivers. The second entry will see returnee Oliver Jarvis partnered by Alex Buncombe and 2017 British GT Championship GT3 drivers champion Seb Morris.

For the past four seasons 24-yearl-old Wrexham based Seb Morris has been a driver for Bentley customer teams. In 2019 Morris was given the opportunity to drive for the factory in the Total 24 Hours of Spa and the Suzuka 10 Hours. At Spa, Morris shared the #109 entry with Rodrigo Baptista and Callum MacLeod but the trio was one of the first retirements.

Morris fared better at Suzuka where he and teammates Alex Buncombe and Andy Soucek finished in 28^th place overall.

Seb Morris is looking forward to the 2020 season as a ‘Bentley Boy’.

“It’s actually been a textbook route from customer racing into the works team for me. I first raced the Bentley Continental GT3 in 2016 for Team Parker Racing in British GT, which we went on to win.

“I then stepped up to the Blancpain GT Series with Team Parker, while still contesting the British series with JRM. Thanks to race wins with both, I was selected last year to join the works team at the Total 24 Hours of Spa than again at the Suzuka 10 Hours. Now, I stand here in 2020 as a fully-fledged works team driver. Bentley promised to nurture talent through its programmes and I can’t wait to start my career as a Bentley Boy.” – Seb Morris

The Intercontinental GT Challenge will be the only series that Bentley will enter as a works team in 2020 after it was announced that US-based K-PAX Racing will contest the GT World Challenge Europe series with a two-car team.

In addition to the opening round at Bathurst, the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge will also visit Spa-Francorchamps, Suzuka and Indianapolis before the season finale at Kylami.
