GT: Revised GT World Challenge Europe Calendar Announced.

SRO Motorsports Group, the series organiser of the GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS, has announced a revised prgramme for the 2020 season which allows for eight race weekends.

The season will consist of four weekends for the Sprint Cup with two race meetings, Misano on August 7 – 9 and Barcelona on October 9 – 11, hosting three one-hour races each. The Endurance Cup will also be contested across four weekends with the series contesting a three-hour event at Imola in July and and six-hour races at the Nürburgring in September and Circuit Paul Ricard in November. The blue-riband event, the Total 24 Hours of Spa, has previously been announced as taking place in October.

The revised calendar is as follows:

July 18 – 19:                     Imola  (1 x 3hr)

August 7 – 9:                    Misano (3 x 1hr)

September 5 – 6:               Nürburgring (1 x 6hr)

September 11 – 13:           Magny-Cours (2 x 1hr)

September 25 – 27:           Zandvoort (2 x 1hr)

October 9 – 11:                 Barcelona (3 x 1hr)

October 22 – 25:                Total 24 Hours of Spa

November 13 – 15:            Circuit Paul Ricard (1 x 6h)

SRO Motorsports Group CEO Stephane Ratel was delighted that a championship will take place in 2020.

“We are pleased to present a complete programme that maintains 10 Sprint Cup races and the full Endurance Cup duration, while respecting our commitment to our teams to bring down costs,” said Stephane Ratel.

“With fewer meetings, all of which are centrally located in Europe, transport times will be reduced. Teams and drivers will be able to reach these events by road during a period when air travel is likely to remain challenging.”

All events will be staged under local regulations and SR has stressed that stringent social distancing rules will be used to maintain safety for competitors, circuit workers and the wider community.
