GT: BLACK FALCON Withdraws From Professional GT3 Sport.

BLACK FALCON, one of the most successful GT racing teams in Europe, has announced that it will withdraw from professional GT3 sport to focus on customer racing.

The team, with its headquarters close to the Nürburgring, made the announcement as the racing world is preparing for the belated start to the 2020 season.

The team has made the decision to focus on customer sport and will continue its involvement in Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland and other events based at the Nordschleife as well as the 24h Series organised by Creventic. The logic behind the move is that it makes better commercial sense to have a number of revenue streams rather than rely on one large customer.

The decision is as a result of the financial impact of the global COVID19 pandemic that has caused the cancellation of sporting events globally and has had a devastating effect on many race teams.

“The last three months were by far the most difficult in the team’s 15-year history,” explained BLACK FALCON Managing Director Alexander Böhm. “The ban on events affects almost all of our business areas and is currently causing sales losses of over 90%.

“We have therefore decided to withdraw from professional GT3 sport until at least the end of 2021, i.e. to do without factory-supported assignments with professional drivers. This was purely a mental decision and unfortunately unavoidable for the economic security of BLACK FALCON.”

Following the announcement, BLACK FALCON driver Hubert Haupt revealed that he will be launching his own team, to be named Haupt Racing team (HRT).
