Byrne: I stopped enjoying my riding
Shane Byrne has said that 2017 was a “really tough season” as well as a “stressful one” in an exclusive interview at the NEC Arena in Birmingham, during the Motorcycle Live week.
Byrne took the championship all the way down to the last round of the championship, where he went into the Brands Hatch meeting a staggering 33 points behind title leader, Leon Haslam. Byrne overcome the deficit against the odds across the three races to take his sixth British Superbike crown.
Byrne did however admit that he “didn’t have a lot of fun” when riding the bike, particularly in the mid-season. He elaborated, saying that he “stopped enjoying racing the motorbike”. The Paul Bird Motorsport Ducati rider then went on to say that he decided to have some fun at Brands Hatch.
You can watch the full interview during the #SuperbikeShow, in a Special Edition from Motorcycle Live, where we have a star-studded line-up of Jonathan Rea, Bradley Smith and also, Johann Zarco.
