BTCC: TOCA Releases Revised 2020 Calendar

TOCA have issued their revised BTCC calendar, with the original being destroyed by COVID-19.

The new calendar will see action begin on August the 1st at Donington Park, initiating a flurry of four events within five weekends.

However, the late starting date means that only nine rounds will be competed in 2020, resulting in three fewer races all together. This means the second visit to Silverstone, on the International layout, will no longer be held in 2020.

TOCA have let it be known that this new calendar is still open to changes dependent on future government advice – on 17th March, the first alteration was made, with the first three rounds being postponed.

The opening month presents a mouthwatering prospect of rounds at Donington Park, Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Knockhill all to be completed by the end of August. September holds Thruxton and Silverstone, and October Croft and Snetterton. The season will conclude on November 14th/15th at Brands Hatch on the Grand Prix circuit as usual.

“These are incredibly challenging times for the whole nation. Through it all, we have seen the importance of being both adaptable and pragmatic… and the BTCC is no different. So it’s entirely logical to draft plans and lock-in our provisional dates, with the ability to amend those if circumstances dictate.

“Obviously this calendar presents a hectic four months, with three separate back-to-back events and four events in the first five weeks alone. But our teams and drivers are fully up for the challenge – there’s such enormous energy, enthusiasm and passion for the BTCC that everyone will want to just roll up their sleeves and get the action underway when the time comes to go racing.”
