BTCC: Flash arrives with a bang, back at Team Dynamics

The news BTCC fans have all been waiting for, Team Dynamics have confirmed their first driver: Gordon ‘Flash’ Shedden. We still await news of his partner in BTCC, and whether there will be three cars under the Team Dynamics name, but one thing is guaranteed, Shedden has to be one of the favourites for the title.

Today, it was announced that the triple touring car champ returns with a team he has driven for for more than a decade in the past. Shedden made his debut in 2001 in a privateer Ford Focus at Knockhill, but had to wait until 2006 to make his full season debut, driving for Team Dynamics alongside Matt Neal. In the long term relationship with Team Dynamics, the Scot won three titles in the NGTC season, all in Civics, and hope’s for a fourth in their current NGTC FK8 Civic.

Since 2018, Gordon Shedden has taken a hiatus from the BTCC, instead trying his hand in the newly formed WTCR, using an Audi RS3 LMS, but in his time away was unable to find championship glory, though secured one overall win.

“I can’t wait to be back in the car! I have kept in touch with the team throughout and jumped into the car in 2020, when Matt was injured. It was the first time I drove the car and it felt right.”

He went on to say he had been watching the 2020 championship and how it is mega competitive, but his motivation and determination is as high as ever.

“It’s great to have Flash back, he knows the team, knows the car and how we work, and showed last year he had not lost pace, so am expecting great things, no pressure!”

On this announcement, speculation has ignited on who will be his teammate, although surely it’ll now be a Neal and whether Matt’s fitness and health is good enough to drive the season.
