BTC: Evan Belford wins race two in a last-lap battle

Evan Belford wins the final R&G British Talent Cup race at Silverstone.

Sullivan Mounsey led the way into Copse corner, with Garness claiming the lead on the exit of turn one. Evam Belford quickly made his way into second position, as Mounsey ran wide on the first lap.

Pole position man, Ollie Walker dropped down the order on his first couple of laps, to fifth position. Meanwhile, at the front, a four-way battle formed at the front with Garness, Belford, Mounsey and Amanuel Brinton battling for the top spot. Positions changed at every corner, with Harley McCabe setting the fastest lap in fifth.

Iwan Jones and Olly Horner had an incident on the entry to the Club Straight, with both riders walking away.

Brinton led the way across the line with riders beginning to look aggressive, as they looked for the same piece of tarmac. Ryan Frost on the #24 bike race would come to a premature end after a loose fairing.

The battle at the front would grow to nine riders in the lead pack after Harrison Dessoy bridged a gap. Dessoy was on the pace and would set a new lap record, after winning race one.

Josh O’Brien crashed out of the race after struggling in both races this weekend, onboard his VisionTrack Racing Team machine.

Mounsey, Garness, and Brinton were three wide across the start-finish line with Brinton coming out on the top. The battle was nail-biting, with no one able to create a gap in the lead group. Mounsey would briefly drop down the order to sixth position, after running wide on lap 14.

A new leader at the front

A new leader appeared at the front of the race with Harley McCabe leading the way on the #7 McCabe Racing machine. Further down the field, Surowiak, Davidson and Huntingford were in their own battle for 11^th position.

With just five laps to go in the race, Evan Belford led the way from the reigning British Talent Cup Champion, who was having a great ride. Lucas Brown was also having a great ride in the lead group and sat in sixth position.

Filip Surowiak and Alfie Davidson were involved in a collision with Davidson losing the front at Luffield. Both riders walked away from the incident, with Brinton leading the way on the final lap as Belford quickly took the race lead.

Garness had a strong last lap, going around the outside of Mounsey on the entry to Brooklands. Brinton had an incredible final sector, leading the way on the run to the finish line.

Evan Belford lined up a pass on the final corner, after a move at the final corner with a drag race to the line. Belford won the race by 0.029 of a second, taking the race win from Amanuel Brinton. The reigning Champion, Johnny Garness finished the race in third position after a strong performance. Harrison Dessoy and Sullivan Mounsey finished in the top five after a nail-biting battle.

Teams and riders will not have to wait long until they return to track at Oulton Park for the second round on the 29^th of April – the 1^st of May.
