BTC: Amanuel Brinton wins after another Thruxton thriller

Evan Belford (City Lifting / RS Racing) was on pole position for the second time this weekend at Thruxton. Race One winner, Sullivan Mounsey (Wilson Racing / Maddison Media) qualified in second position. Amanuel Brinton (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) rounded out the front row and was hoping for a better race today.

Sullivan Mounsey led the field through turn one, ahead of poleman Evan Belford who dropped to second. Amanuel Brinton was in third and was under immense pressure from Ollie Walker (VisionTrack Racing). Walker was having an incredible start and was aiming to keep up with the front runners.

Evan Belford took second position before eventually taking the race lead for the first time in the race. Belford looked strong with Mounsey dropping down to third position after losing the lead.

Ollie Walker took the race lead on lap four after an unbelievable move at the final chicane, overtaking the front three in one corner. The lead would be quickly taken away with Mounsey trying to show his pace early.

Evan Belford was now the rider in fourth place, watching the front three battle for position in front. Belford finished third in Race One with hopes of a better result today in perfect conditions.

McCabe crashes out

Harley McCabe’s (McCabe Racing) weekend went from bad to worse after crashing out of the final chicane. He made content with Filip Surowiak (FS75 / FAB Racing), sending both riders onto the grass.

Harrison Dessoy (Microlise Cresswell Racing / Eastern Garage) was the rider in third and leading a huge group of riders. Lucas Brown (Amphibian Scaffolding / SP125 Racing) was battling Dessoy for fifth place, with action anywhere you look.

Harrison Mackay (Wilson Racing / HMR) was having his own battle with Julian Correa (Microlise Cresswell Racing). Behind the duo were Eli Banish (VisionTrack Racing) and Charlie Huntingford (Opteven Mototechiks).

The fantastic four at the front continued to battle, with no one able to break away from the pack. Walker led the field through with one lap remaining at just 15 years old in his first season with VisionTrack. Evan Belford took the race lead on the final lap with Walker fighting to hang onto the podium places.

It all went down to the final chicane and would be Amanuel Brinton who came across the line to take the race win. Ollie Walker managed to hang onto second place by 0.032 from Mounsey in third. The Championship leader, Evan Belford finished the final race of the weekend in fourth, outside the podium places.

Harrison Mackay rounded out the top five and finished ahead of Lucas Brown who had a better result in Race Two. Eli Banish was in seventh after a solid ride and was ahead of Harrison Dessoy who rounded out the top eight.

The British Talent Cup riders will have to wait one month to return to track at Oulton Park in September.
