BSB: ‘Tough weekend’ sees Ellison struggle

James Ellison struggled again at Knockhill, with it now being nine races since he stepped on the British Superbike podium. The Cumbrian has however scored points in all but three races this season and is just three points back on his points tally from the same point last year.

Ellison was closing down fellow Yamaha rider Josh Brookes in race one, when his softer option rear tyre made him drop down the order to 13th, whilst in race two, he mounted a top ten challenge, narrowly coming off worse in a battle for 8th place with Be Wiser Ducati’s Andy Irwin.

“This weekend has been tough, we’ve tried a lot of different things but unfortunately it just hasn’t happened for us. Both races for us have been difficult but we have pushed as hard as possible and come away with points.

“The bike isn’t a million miles away, I know that and so do the team but we have to stick together and find the little bit extra that we need. I know it will happen and it will come soon, because we aren’t far away at all. The team have been fantastic as always, I can’t knock their effort and we will bounce back stronger at Brands.”

Ellison goes to the Brands Hatch GP circuit next, a track that he has won at in 2016, taking two wins, although that was on Kawasaki machinery.
