BSB: Snetterton Support Categories Round-Up

It was an action packed weekend at Snetterton with BSB and support categories taking to the track in Norfolk. Thrills and spills in all classes provided excellent entertainment with streaks of success and maiden winners.

While Glen Irwin took the headlines in the BSB, some of the stand-out performers were Rory Skinner, who continued his flawless run in the British Supersport class, and Tom Neave, who snatched victory in Superstock 1000 by less than a tenth of a second.

Wins for Jenner and Thomas in Junior Supersport

In the British Junior Supersport class, Owen Jenner (Massingberd Mundy Kawasaki/Affinity S) came out top of a last lap battle with Seth Crump (MSS Performance) to take victory in Saturday’s race.

Jenner set a series of fastest laps to hit the front on Lap 5 and hung on to the lead at the chequered flag, just over a tenth ahead of Crump. Ash Barnes (Massingberd Mundy Kawasaki /Affinity S) completed the podium in third only 0.026 seconds behind. Brody Crockford (Crescent Yamaha) was unlucky to finish off the rostrum, less than two tenths behind Jenner.

The race on Sunday was marked by wet weather and only 12 riders took the chequered flag in the tricky conditions. Lynden Leatherland (GL Fabrications Racing) mastered the rain early, leading from Jenner and Adon Davie (56 North – JDF Racing) after the opening lap. Jenner hit the front on Lap 4, but his lead was short-lived as Kam Dixon (SBR) had made his way up the pack and took over a lap later.

Joseph Thomas (3D Racing) was flying through the field and took the lead on Lap 7. The Kawasaki rider checked out in front and crossed the line to grab his maiden win ahead of Jenner and Leatherland.

Jenner leaves Snetterton as the championship leader on 95 points, 28 ahead of Crump in second with Crockford another 23 points behind in third.

Two in a Row for Luxton in Superstock 600

Ben Luxton (JR Performance Racing) doubled up in Superstock 600 by adding a win at Snetterton to his Donington victory.

Rhys Irwin (Irwin Racing/Mondello Park) grabbed the holeshot from Zak Corderoy (Zak Corderoy Racing) and Aaron Silvester (A&J Racing) at the lights with Liam Delves (Santander Salt TAG Racing) and Luxton close behind.

Delves crashed out on the opening lap followed by Silvester who exited the race on Lap 3, leaving Luxton to chase down the leading two. Halfway into the race, a trio of Luxton, Corderoy and Irwin was exchanging punches for the lead and the positions were swapping and changing over the course of the next few laps.

Irwin was first to surrender and Luxton and Corderoy were left to battle it out for the win. No love was lost between the two riders, but Luxton managed to put a manageable gap between himself and his opponent on the final lap and secured his second win of the season. Corderoy was defeated into runner-up spot by just over a second while Irwin completed the podium in a lonely third place.

Luxton tops the championship standings on a perfect 50 points. Corderoy sits second, 14 points adrift of the leader and 12 ahead of Irwin in third.

Double Delight for Day in TriOptions Cup

Josh Day (Host-it.co.uk Racing Team) continued his perfect run in the TriOptions Cup by winning both races at Snetterton.

Day led the field from the lights in Race 1 ahead of Ed Best (Massingberd Mundy by Symcirrus) and David Shoubridge (Old Garage Legends). The Brit looked comfortable heading the pack and only briefly had to surrender the lead to Elliot Pinson (Massingberd Mundy by Symcirrus) at the halfway stage.

Day responded immediately and reclaimed the lead with a fastest lap on Lap 5 and did not look back from there to pave his way to victory. Behind him, Levi Day (BPS Racing) was making his way up the order and moved up into second on Lap 8, establishing himself firmly ahead of Pinson to secure runner-up position.

Championship leader Day doubled up in the second race on Sunday, but this time he had work to do. Despite grabbing the holeshot, he fell behind Best and Levi Day in the early stages of the race. Pinson swiftly joined the front trio and made it a four-way scrap for the lead halfway in.

Josh Day reclaimed the front for good on Lap 7 and stretched out a gap that would eventually take him across the line for the chequered flag 2.5 seconds ahead of Levi Day and Best completing the podium in third.

A flawless 100 points haul sees Josh Day at the top of the cup standings, 35 ahead of Pinson. Levi Day sits third on 65 points, just a single point adrift of second.

Reeves/Rousseau Unstoppable in Snetterton Sidecar Races

Reeves and Rousseau (Bonovo Action) were a cut above the rest in the Sidecar races at Snetterton and grabbed victory by a fine margin in both races.

The #77 finished Saturday’s race just over three tenths ahead of Kershaw and Charlwood (Quattro Group/Santander Salt) while Stevens and Allum (Massingberd Mundy Kawasaki) completed the podium just under five seconds behind the winners.

Sunday’s race got even closer as Reeves and Rousseau prevailed in a last lap battle with Ellis and Richardson (Santander Salt) and took the chequered flag 0.163 seconds ahead of their opponents. Stevens and Allum yet again rounded out the podium in third with a four second gap.
