BSB: Davey Todd replaces Buchan at Oulton Park

Davey Todd will ride at Oulton Park for the TAS Racing BMW team.

Davey Todd will make his British Superbike return at Oulton Park with the SYNETIQ TAS Racing team. He will replace Dany Buchan who is recovering from multiple head injuries which he has had in 2023.

Davey Todd initially stepped up to the British Superbike Championship with Padgetts Honda, after winning the National Superstock Championship. In his Championship winning season, Todd took 11 podiums, and four race wins. This allowed the 27-year-old to get the call-up to British Superbikes.

He moved up to the Superbike class with the Padgetts Honda team for the final round of 2022 and 2023. The partnership between the two parties would end mid-season, after an unsuccessful season in British Superbikes. Todd’s best result came at Oulton Park, with a best finish of 15^th position.

Davey Todd later announced that he would join TAS Racing next season in the British Superbike Championship and at the Isle of Man TT.

Todd said: “I really can’t wait to ride. I feel for Danny having to miss out, but this gives me a great opportunity to make my debut for TAS Racing on the SYNETIQ BMW, and no better place than the British Superbike Championship.

“It’s a great chance to get some race miles under my belt with the team and the Oulton Park circuit has a bit of everything and somewhere I enjoy racing.”

Danny Buchan has had an extremely tough season and is currently 20^th in the Championship standings. Buchan has 25 points to his name after having to miss multiple rounds due to multiple concussions. The SQNETIQ BMW Motorrad team, run by TAS Racing is currently in 15^th position in the team standings.

On social media, Buchan wrote: “So you may of all seen the news I am unfortunately missing Oulton Park this weekend. I will be about spectating, however, the BSB medics have said that having 2 concussions close together (7/8weeks) it is best to let my brain heal for longer.”

Danny Buchan was ruled out of the Cadwell Park weekend after a crash in FP1, resulting in concussion.

He added: “I have been doing everything I can to be fully fit (head wise) as physically I’m perfectly ok. I have been in the hyperbaric chamber every morning I can be since the crash to aid recovery. I’ve seen specialists and am currently following a return to sports plan to hopefully be able to race at Donington.

“I want to thank everybody who continues to support me, this has been the most miserable year not only for myself but also my side of the garage. We will continue to dig in and I would love to end with a few good races.
