BSB: Danny Buchan joins DAO Racing in 2024

Danny Buchan joins DAO Racing for the 2024 British Superbike Championship.

Danny Buchan will be in green next season, racing for the DAO Racing team in British Superbikes. He will enter his ninth full season in the class, joining the successful DAO Racing team.

Buchan will replace Dean Harrison who parted ways with the team mid-season after no agreement could be made. It ended an eight-year partnership, with Harrison starting over 110 races for DAO. 

Danny Buchan has had a tough 2023 season and is currently 22^nd in the Championship standings. Buchan rode for the TAS Racing team, riding a BMW but would suffer multiple injuries throughout the season. After a further concussion at Thruxton, Buchan was advised to sit out the remainder of the year.

The DAO Racing team is currently 16^th in the Teams Trophy standings, after a consistent season. After the departure of Dean Harrison, Brayden Elliot stepped up to British Superbikes with the team. 

The team has been highly successful in road racing with the team competing in the North West 200 and the TT. Harrison and DAO Racing won three Isle of Man TTs together, including the 2019 Senior TT. DAO Racing will not race at the Isle of Man TT next season and will focus on British Superbikes.

Buchan said: “First of all, I want to thank Clarissa, Sommai and Jonny for putting this together. It’s no secret that 2023 has been a disaster, but DAO Racing can see potential in me, which is massive! The team has clear ambitions to become regular podium finishers and race winners, and that’s always the goal of a racer.

“I feel very proud to be part of this project and obviously excited to be jumping back on a bike I’ve got good memories with. The Kawasaki ZX-10RR is in good form currently in BSB, so with a winter’s test plan and lots of laps, I’m hoping we can get right to it and have a good first season together. Thank you to my supporters, sponsors and everyone who has stayed so positive around me this season. Roll on 2024!”

Ross Burridge, Head of Marketing & Racing Department at Kawasaki UK concluded: “Danny has been part of the Team Green family for many years now, and it’s great to have him back on board for next season! Although it’s clearly been a tough 2023 for him, we know he has the talent to run at the front of the Superbike class, and now he has joined this extremely experienced team with a good crew around him, we’re confident he will hit the ground running in 2024.”
