BSB: Booth-Amos signs for Gearlink Kawasaki

Tom Booth-Amos will return to Gearlink Kawasaki for a full season in British Supersport.

The British rider will make a return to the Supersport championship, riding for the Kawasaki team. Booth-Amos will also race in the World Supersport championship, spending his second year in the series.

The ex-Grand Prix rider will join a three-man team in 2022, joining previous series Champion Luke Stapleford. Zak Coderoy will also be riding for the Gearlink Kawasaki, as he makes his debut in the class.

However, it will be a very tight schedule for Booth-Amos, competing in almost double the race weekends throughout 2023. With potential clashes with the BSB and WorldSBK calendars, meaning the Brit may be missing some races.

Booth-Amos raced with the Gearlink Kawasaki team in 2022, competing in the final two rounds of the championship. He would be on the pace straight away, with a best finish of fourth place at Donington Park.

The 26-year-old had a tough first season in the World Supersport championship, moving up from the 300 class. He would switch teams’ mid-season from the Prodina Racing Kawasaki to Motozoo racing.

Booth-Amos would finish 23^rd in the World Championship, after scoring 29 points in his first year. His best result would be an eighth in Australia after switching to the Motozoo Racing team.

Before stepping up to the Supersport class, Booth-Amos spent two years racing in the Supersport 300 class. He would have great success in his two years, winning three races and taking 15 podiums.

Booth-Amos said: “I’m really pleased to be back with Gearlink again. I enjoyed my time with the team in 2022, so it will be good to see what we can do with the bike with a full season this year, I have a busy year ahead as I will also be racing in World Supersport, but I will give both Championships my full commitment.

“I would like to thank Gearlink Kawasaki for the opportunity and hope I can win the title for them.”

Team Manager Ben Wilson added: “We are really pleased to have Tom onboard for 2023. I am really looking forward to seeing what he can do on our bike when he gets comfortable on it following testing. The last two rounds of 2022, he literally jumped straight on the bike with a basic setting.

“We are looking forward to getting a good set up and seeing Tom at the sharp end again. It will be a busy season ahead now that we are running three bikes, but the quality of talent within the team this year will be great for the championship.”
