British GT: Proctors Enter Father And Son Duo With Balfe

The father and son driving partnership of Stewart and Lewis Proctor have announced that they will be contesting the 2021 Intelligent Money British GT Championship as a GT3 Silver-Am duo.

The Proctors will be driving a McLaren 720S with Balfe Motorsport.

2021 will be Lewis Proctor’s fourth season in the British GT Championship. The Aberdeen-based driver joined the championship in 2018 driving a McLaren 570S GT4 with Tolman Motorsport. A second season with Tolman resulted in a fourth place finish in the GT4 drivers standings and was followed by a graduation to the GT3 class with Optimum Motorsport for 2020. Proctor finished 5^th in the GT3 Silver Cup, driving the #96 720S GT3 alongside teammate Ollie Wilkinson.

Lewis Proctor is looking forward to the opportunity to compete alongside his father in the world’s premier domestic GT championship.

Racing with my Dad in a full-season assault is something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m really looking forward to it. He’s always been the biggest supporter so the chance to race and potentially win some silverware together would be the highlight of my career so far. We both know the car and Dad’s spent plenty of time with Balfe who run a very tight ship. They also understand how to win with the 720S.

Competing against the Nearys will also be fun. Sam made a strong impression during his debut season so it will be interesting to see how the two families compare in the Silver-Am class. Hopefully we’ll have a few more entries to also test ourselves against.

Lewis Proctor

Stewart Proctor began his driving career in the Pure McLaren GT Series. For the past two seasons, Proctor has driven in selected rounds of the British GT Championship and, in 2020, he drove with teammate Joe Osborne to finish 7^th in the GT3 Pro-Am Drivers standings.

British GT is very competitive so it was important to learn the ropes last year alongside Joe at Balfe. Obviously there’s continuity with the same team and car, but the new Silver-Am class has provided Lewis and I with an opportunity to be competitive as a pairing while also enjying racing together.

Last year it was slightly surreal being in different garages and trying to beat each other. Of course, everyone wants to win but it’s also important that I enjoy my racing. I will certainly get a lot of satisfaction from sharing a car and, hopefully, some success with Lewis every few weeks. Hopefully he agrees!

The Proctors will be competing against another father-and-son duo as Richard and Sam Neary are also entered as a Silver-Am pairing in the ABBA Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.

The 2021 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Brands Hatch on May 22 – 23.
