British GT: Oman Racing by TF Sport returns for Snetterton

Oman Racing by TF Sport will return to the Intelligent Money British GT Championship for Rounds Five and Six at Snetterton on August 7 – 8 when Ahmad Al Harthy will be joined by Aston Martin Racing factory driver Charlie Eastwood in the team’s AMR Vantage GT3.

Snetteton will be the Omani driver’s first outing behind the wheel of a GT car since the  Asian Le Mans Series at Abu Dhabi in January.

Al Harthy had been due to contest the 2020 British GT Championship in 2020 driving alongside Jonny Adam and the duo appeared at the Media Day at Snetterton in March 2020.  The entry was, however, withdrawn before the opening round as the global pandemic gathered strength.

“I’m delighted to be back racing in the UK, back in British GT, with Oman Racing and looking forward to racing at Snetterton once again,” said Al Harthy. “It is a very challenging year still with COVID-19 continuing to cause so many difficulties globally, but I’m very proud to be able to represent Oman in British GT once more and we would love to get some good results at Snetterton.”

Charlie Eastwood, who drove another of TF Sport’s Aston Martin at the Silverstone 500 alongside Giacomo Petrobelli and finished fourth, is confident that the Oman Racing by TF Sport entry at Snetterton will be competitive.

“After a good run out at Silverstone with Giacomo in June, it’s great to be paired with another strong Bronze-graded driver in Ahmad for the pair of races at Snetterton,” said Eastwood. “We enjoyed plenty of success as teammates in Blancpain, in the new Vantage GT3, and we plan on bringing that across to the British GT Championship.

Snetterton on August 7 – 8 will be the first time in 2021 that the British GT Championship has used the two one-hour race format, always popular with spectators. Qualifying will start at 16:05 local time on Saturday August 7 with the lights going out for the first one-hour contest on Sunday August 8 at 10:40.
