British GT: Greystone GT joins 2022 GT3 grid

Greystone GT has announced that it will join the GT3 grid for the 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship. Father-and-son duo Stuart and Lewis Proctor will pilot a McLaren 720S GT3 in the UK’s premier GT series in a maiden full-season GT3 entry for Mark McLoughlin’s team.

Greystone GT, founded in 2017, has recently announced a busy programme for the team in 2022 with the recent news that Rich Mason and Jon Lancaster will be joined by Philip Carter and Michael Broadhurst in a two-car assault on the GTH class of the GT Cup.

The team also announced that it will be competing in the GT4 European Series with Richard Distl and Alain Valente.

Stuart and Lewis Proctor won the British GT GT3 Silver-Am drivers standings in 2021, taking Silver-Am class wins in the opening two rounds Brands Hatch and Silverstone.

Lewis Proctor, who, with father Stuart, raced with Balfe Motorsport in 2021, is looking forward to the new season.

“As each year passes, the targets get higher and I’m aiming to win a race overall this year and be regularly contending for podiums,” said Lewis Proctor. “We have a good, strong testing programme in place with Greystone GT, which hopefully will mean that we can hit the ground running when the season starts.

“Racing with Dad last year was my first time with an Am co-driver and was something I had to learn. The season helped me to understand the whole dynamic much better so now as we go into our second year together, we can use that foresight to really push on.”

Stuart Proctor is targeting outright podiums this year

“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead with Greystone GT,” said Stuart Proctor. “They’re really focused on enhancing their standing in GT racing and that can only help Lewis and myself as we are, too.

“I think we can continue to move forwards in the overall field this year, score more outright podiums and generally be closer to the front everywhere. That’s the target and something we’ll be pushing for.”

The 2022 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Oulton Park on April 16 – 18.
