British GT: Four-time champion Jonny Adam quickest in FP2

The #7 Beechdean AMR Aston Martin AMR Vantage GT3 with Jonny Adam behind the wheel went quickest in the second practice session for the opening two rounds of the 2021 Intelligent Money British GT Championship. The double Le Mans winner and four-time British GT champion lapped in 1:25.508 in the closing laps of FP2.

Second quickest, and picking up where he left off after the first practice session, was Phil Keen in the #18 WPI Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3. The Lamborghini factory driver lapped in 1:25.805, nearly three-quarters of a second behind the lap-time he set earlier in the day.

Third quickest, and making it three different marques in the quickest trio, was Greg Caton in the #33 G-Cat Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R. Caton put in a 1:25.823 late in the session.

Quickest of the GT4 field was the #15 Toyota GAZOO Racing UK Toyota GR Supra GT4 of John Ferguson and Scott McKenna followed by the #61 Ford Mustang of Will Moore and Matt Cowley.

The session was interrupted twice by red flags, the first due to an incident involving the #2 McLaren and the second after #3 McLaren driven by Alain Valente dropped oil on the circuit, causing a spin for Mark Sansom in the #56 Ginetta G56.

Over ten minutes had elapsed after the second stoppage before green flag running resumed after which Michael Igoe took over the #18 Lamborghini which, at that stage, topped the timing screens.

The #8 Team ABBA Racing Mercedes joined the session with less than ten minutes remaining, Sam Neary at the wheel of the car he shared with his father Richard. The #8 car had been delayed leaving the garage due to repairs taking place for damage sustained at the end of the first practice session.

The first of the four ten-minute qualifying sessions gets underway at 16:05 on Saturday May 22.
