British GT: Century Announces 2021 Driver Line-Ups

Fenny Compton-based Century Motorsport has announced its two GT4 driver line-ups for the 2021 Intelligent Money British GT Championship.

Will Burns and Gus Burton will team up for a Silver Cup entry to drive the first of the team’s two BMW M4 GT4s while Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke will join new co-driver Chris Salkeld in a Pro-Am pairing in the second entry.

Will Burns joins Century after winning the 2020 Miller Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup championship with Rob Boston Racing, standing on the top step of the podium five times in the process. The Somerset-based driver competed in the British Touring Car Championship in 2017 and has previous experience in the British GT Championship when he drove for HHC Motorsport in the 2018 season.

18-year-old Gus Burton first competed in pro-category racing with Century Motorsport in 2020, contesting the Ginetta GT4 Supercup Championship. Burton took 16 podiums including five wins on his way to finishing as runner-up in the series.

“I’m really excited to be joining Century Motorport for the British GT Championship this season,” said Will Burns. “I feel I’ve got unfinished business in the series after my last season in 2018, so I’m pleased to have another chance to race in such a prestigious series.

“Gus was stiff competition last season and showed how much of a talent he is, so I’m looking forward to racing alongside him this year.”

Andrew Gordon-Colebrooke will be competing in his second season of British GT competition, having finished sixth in the GT4 drivers standings in 2020, piloting the #42 Century Motorsport BMW to victory in the Silverstone 500 alongside teammate Rob Wheldon.

“I’m thrilled and honoured to be teaming up with Century and Chris for this season,” said Gordon-Colebrooke. “Off the back of winning the Silverstone 500 last year, it’s great to have the opportunity to take the next step and fight for the Pro-Am title.”

Chris Salkeld is also a graduate of the Ginetta GT4 Supercup, taking three class wins on his way to finishing runner-up in the Pro-Am standings.

“I’ve never been more excited for the start of a season,” said Salkeld. “Racing in British GT is something I’d have never imagined possible three years ago when I started racing in the Ginetta GRDC and to be doing it with Century Motorsport and BMW is a dream come true.

“With the new Evo pack on the car and Century’s experience and track record in this championship, I’m sure we’ll be a force to be reckoned with this year.”

The 2021 Intelligent Money British GT Championship gets underway at Brands Hatch on May 22 – 23 and the meeting is open to spectators.
