Blancpain GT Asia: SRO Announces 3hr Shanghai Race for 2020

The SRO Motorsports Group, series organisers of GT World Challenge Asia, has announced preliminary details for the 2020 season.

The 2020 GT World Challenge Asia series will continue with its six-round, 11-race season which will start in Malaysia and end in China as it did in 2019.

The final round, however, will feature a three-hour race where two drivers will share four stints with three pitstops. The organisers said that;

“We have once again reviewed the GT racing environment in Asia and made changes to our format accordingly. These have already received a positive response during informal conversations with teams and drivers. Indeed, interest in 2020 – even at this early stage – has been overwhelming.”

The Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia, as it was named in 2019, attracted large grids with 29 cars on track for the final round.

The 2020 Shanghai three-hour season finale will offer double points, adding further excitement as the series draws to a close.

2019 saw Roelof Bruins, driver of the #97 Solite Indigo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 with teammate Manuel Matzger, win the drivers title.

Entries open for the 2020 season on December 1.
