BSB: Dan Linfoot extends his lead to Kerr after a riveting Race One

Dan Linfoot extends his Championship lead in a dramatic National Superstock race.

Dan Linfoot (Optimum Bikes Racing Ltd) was on pole position ahead of Lewis Rollo (IN Competition / Aprilia). Richard Kerr ( AMD Motorsport) rounded off the front row as he hoped to close the 27-point gap in the Championship.

Linfoot got the best start of the race with the top three riders staying in their starting positions. There was a huge crash on the exit of Cascades on lap one, involving three riders which would bring out the safety car.

The safety car came in at the end of lap two with Kerr pouncing on Rollo for second position in the race. Ash Beech (Jones Dorling Racing)  and Alastair Seeley (SYNETIQ BMW Motorrad) were behind and battled for fourth.

Fraser Rodgers (IN Competition / Aprilia) returned to the BSB paddock after 23 months and was onboard the Aprilia. Rodgers was racing inside the top 10 in the opening stage of the race and ahead of Billy McConnell (C&L Fairburn Properties Jackson Racing).

Seeley continued to battle his way through the field, setting the fastest lap of the race in the process. The BMW rider made his way into second position and eventually into the lead of the race.

Joe Talbot (JR Performance Racing) was at the back of a six-bike pack for the race win with just four laps left.

Seeley and Linfoot batted at the front with a block pass from Seeley which dropped the Championship leader to third. Richard Kerr was now ahead of Dan Linfoot, clawing his way at the lead.

Final lap shootout at Oulton Park

On the final lap of the race, it was a three-rider shootout for the race win with Linfoot pulling off an impressive move for the lead. Seeley was too defensive at the final corner, allowing Kerr through.

Dan Linfoot took the race win for race one of the weekend at Oulton Park, with Richard Ker and Alastair Seeley behind. A great shootout at the front now allows Linfoot to have a 30-point lead in the Championship.

Joe Talbot came home in fourth, ahead of Scotsman Lewis Rollo who rounded out the top five. Ash Beech was ahead of Fraser Rodgers who was in seventh position on his comeback to racing. Alex Olsen  (Cummins by Team IWR Honda)was ahead of David Allingham (SMS Racing) with Luke Hedger (MAD Racing) rounding out the top 10.
