British GT: Keen Dominates Wet Snetterton FP2

Phil Keen demonstrated his dominance of Snetterton by going quickest in the second practice session for Rounds Seven and Eight of the 2020 Intelligent Money British GT Championship. The Lamborghini factory driver lapped in 2.09.217 to go to the top of timing screens in the final two minutes of the 60-minute session.

Second quickest in the GT3 category was set by the championship-leading #69 RAM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 in which Patrick Kujala put in a 2:09.481 in the car he shares with Sam De Haan.

Completing the overall top three was the sister #78 Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini, Sandy Mitchell lapping in 2:09.762.

HHC Motorsport’s pair of McLaren 570S GT4s finished the session in a 1 – 2 at the top of the GT4 category’s timing screens. Jordan Collard set a 2:17.138 in the #58 McLaren in the final seconds of the session, which was .357 seconds quicker than the sister #57 entry in which Chris Wesemael lapped in 2:17.495.

TF Sport was third and fourth quickest with the #97 Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 setting a 2:17.933 in the hands of Jamie Caroline.

The session was red-flagged after less than five minutes when the #2 Jenson Team Rocket RJN McLaren 720S GT3 stopped on the circuit, an issue that had frustrated the team in FP1 resurfacing less than 90 minutes later as ‘World’s Fastest Gamer’ James Baldwin was at the wheel.

The #2 car was recovered to the garage and rejoined the session to go 12^th quickest with a 2:13.419.

Track conditions deteriorated throughout the session, resulting in times set in the day’s earlier practice session not being challenged.

Qualifying for Sunday October 4’s two one-hour sprint races gets underway at 4.00pm on Saturday October 3.
