British GT: 38 Car Grid and Live Streaming for all Rounds

A record 38-car grid has been confirmed for the British GT Championship in 2019. With ten manufacturers represented in 3 classes.

It will include a return to the series for the Porsche 911 and Cayman GT4 Clubsport, while the Ford Mustang makes it first appearance since 2007. The 911 itself will be the only entry in the GTC class, run by WPI Motorsport.

Elsewhere, KTM return with their X-Bow GT4 with the first full season entry for a closed-top KTM. As per usual, Jaguar, BMW, Lamborghini, McLaren, Mercedes and Bentley all return, while Aston Martin have eleven cars over two classes.

All rounds will be streamed live on the GT World YouTube channel and the British GT Facebook. This will include the Spa-Francorchamps round, ensuring it will be the first time all rounds can be streamed since the addition of the Belgian round.

The testing kicked off today at Donington Park for their Media Day, with Ian Loggie in the RAM Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 topping the first practice with a time of 1:27.564, beating the time from Media Day last year.

“The response from existing and new teams and drivers has once again surpassed our expectations. We previously limited ourselves to a maximum of 36 full-season entries but the unprecedented level of demand since registration opened last October has required us to re-evaluate.

“GT4 remains as popular as ever and I’m delighted to welcome so many new teams, drivers and cars. Greater capacity would have seen us break 2018’s class records, but we should still be extremely pleased to have matched the same number of entries and manufacturers. In any case, we will undoubtedly see more race-by-race entries as the season progresses.

“Likewise GT3 where we have one more full-season entry than last year. However, it’s the abundance of new models that has impressed and excited me the most.
