MotoGP: Petrucci “very angry” after Marquez clash

Danilo Petrucci has launched an attack on Marc Marquez, following the collision both the Repsol Honda rider and home hero Petrucci at just the second corner of the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday. The Le Mans 2nd-place man made a great start from row two, pushing through to 3rd by turn two, before Marquez forced him off circuit.

Petrucci, sporting a special Lamborghini colour scheme, fought back from 10th and made rapid progress, at one point making it to 3rd place again, making it – at the time – three Ducati’s in the top three positions. However, Petrucci pushed hard to make up the time he lost on the opening lap and cooked his tyres, finishing 7th – still ahead of Factory Yamaha rider, Maverick Vinales, who in turn started from the front row.

“I’m very sorry for the way things went. I started off very well from the second row but Marquez pushed me out of the circuit. If I have to be honest I’m very angry because we worked very well during the week end. I had to push hard to recover,” concluded a disappointed Petrucci.

Despite this, Petrucci lies 6th in the championship, just 32 points of Marc Marquez and the series lead. Petrucci has finished every race since Sepang last year in the points, the only rider of the current Ducati riders to achieve this.
