Jetstream Motorsport to race Aston Martin Vantage GT3 In 2018 British GT Championship

Bruntingthorpe-based Jetstream Motorsport has announced that it is to enter the 2018 British GT Championship with an Aston Martin V12 Vantage, to be driven by Graham Davidson and Maxime Martin.

Both Graham Davidson and Maxime Martin are experienced competitors with Davidson having won the 2017 GT Cup Championship with Jetstream Motorsport, driving its McLaren MP4/12C.

Although 31 years old, Belgian Maxime Martin has enjoyed a long and illustrious racing career, begun in Mini Coopers in his native country in 2004. Martin had a long association with BMW in the DTM Championship and, in December of 2017, it was announced that Martin had joined Aston Martin Racing as a works driver to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

Graham Davidson is excited at the prospect of competing at the highest level in the premier national GT championship.

“The British GT Championship is not only a step-up in terms of competiveness but from an exposure and profile-building point of view too,” said Davidson. “If you are to progress, you must compete on a professional platform that has a following, and it will be a privilege to race against exceptionally talented and successful teams and drivers who have prominent championship titles or even 24 Hours of Le Mans victories to their names.”

“I’ve tried to give Jetstream Motorsport and myself the best chance of having a successful season, because doing well in British GT would put us in a very good light.”

Maxime Martin is also relishing the opportunity to make his racing debut in the British GT Championship and taking on some of the world’s best GT drivers in GT3 machinery.

“I’m really excited to be entering British GT with Jetstream Motorsport,” said Martin. “I’ve never raced in the championship before and it’s great to be doing it during my first year with Aston Martin Racing.”

“It’s a pleasure to be joining Graham Davidson and Jetstream and I will try to do something good, by hopefully winning races and the title. I’ve spoken to my fellow Aston Martin drivers, including Jonny Adam, and they have told me that the level of competition in British GT is high and that it’s a difficult championship to win.”

“I’ve been racing GTs for most of my career and I’ve competed in several cars, with different teams and both Pro and Am team-mates. I’ll bring experience, having raced in lots of championships and my job is to optimise the package and make Graham the best driver he can be.”

The 2018 British Gt Championship opens at Oulton Park on March 31 – April 2.
