Here at Motorsport Radio, we love Top Gear and like many others, we cannot wait for The Grand Tour to start on Amazon Prime this month too!
Whilst the new guise of Top Gear may have had mixed reviews from critics; the prior lineup of Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May was always a popular affair with over 7 million viewers in the UK before Clarkson was suspended and later had his contract revoked by the BBC in the wake of a physical assault against producer, Oisin Tymon. One of the most popular segments was when the trio undertook a ‘Cheap Car Challenge’ of some description.
Whilst not being a traditional challenge, Episode 7 of Series 18 saw Clarkson, Hammond and May try their hand at rallycross by competing in a round of the BTRDA Clubmans Rallycross Championship at Lydden Hill. Jeremy opted for a BMW 328i Coupe, whilst Richard and James raced in a Citroen Saxo and Toyota MR2 respectively.
Jeremy’s BMW – which competed in the Super Modified category and achieved 3rd place in the Super Final – is up for sale and it could be yours for a lot less than you think! racecarsdirect.com has the car currently listed at £3995 and is marketing it as a vehicle that could be used again in rallycross or drifting, or as a suitable collectors item for those into television memorabilia.
