Petrucci rockets to podium in French GP, top Ducati again
Danilo Petrucci stormed to 2nd in the French Grand Prix on his Pramac Ducati. The Italian took his joint-best GP finish, with only series leader Marc Marquez managing to beat him in Sunday’s race.
Petrucci blasted to a surprise front row start on Saturday afternoon, and soon showed that he would once again feature as a consistent front runner – having had a couple of disappointing rounds prior to the European leg of the championship.
Petrucci takes his first podium since Japan in 2017, whilst also keeping up his record of scoring points in every race since Sepang last season too. It was also Pramac Racing’s first ever double top five!
“It is a great Sunday. I couldn’t get off to a good start but managed to stay with the leading group from the first lap,” began Petrucci, now 5th in the championship.
“I had a good pace and a great confidence. We did a great job this weekend. I am also pleased to have given the team a great satisfaction.”
Petrucci has scored five podiums in the last 17 races, the exact same rate as 9-time champion Valentino Rossi.
